This photograph was taken on February 11, 2005.
It
was on the eve of Gloria's 50th birthday and on the stage
of the music auditorium at the
University of Mississippi. Gloria had just sung as
soloist in five ensemble numbers with university faculty
and graduate students. This photograph was taken at
the moment I was announcing to Gloria and the audience of
her concert that she has been invited to sing in the
professional opera company, "Opera Memphis," in its fall,
2005 production of Samson and Delilah.
For you parents with a young child who loves music and who
have concerns of your child's future and health, we hope
Gloria gives you encouragement and hope. I must add,
however, that she not only loves music, but she takes
lessons and practices every day. She also loves food,
but by learning to eat moderate proportions, avoiding fatty
foods, and by exercising daily, she keeps her 50
year-old and 4 foot 10 inch body a healthy 100 lbs.
She has been living at the Baddour Center in Senatobia,
Mississippi for the past four years. Gloria now
receives emails, and sometimes replies.
