Mary Karele

Back Up Next

Mary Karele (pronounced Carol) was born on March 30, 1998 and was diagnosed in May of 1999. After holding her back a year before kindergarten, she graduated from a preschool program for children with special needs. She will be in the second grade in the fall, half a day mainstream and the other half in pull out classes. She started reading in March of this year, and she can compute simple math problems, numerical and word problems. She was been released from speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. She is on consultation for all mentioned in addition to behavior therapy.

Mary is very healthy. When she was born, we were told she would have heart surgery by the time she was five. She is now eight, and we see the cardiologist every two years.  Mary loves baseball, gymnastics, cheerleading, music, Disney, and (surprise, surprise) people!  Everywhere we go, someone knows Mary! She is a joy to us and all around her!!
