Research Participation
Back Up Next

If families are interested in participating in some research project dealing with Williams syndrome, they may apply to the researcher heading the project, such as Dr. Colleen Morris (see below). If accepted to participate, the FISH test is usually done free of charge as part of the project. One disadvantage of such an arrangement though, is that the results take longer to get than if you ordered the test via a commercial laboratory. To become involved in such a project usually requires submitting some photographs, answering a questionnaire, and/or an interview by telephone.

[Dr. Colleen Morris, the co-discoverer of the missing elastin gene in Williams syndrome, currently is conducting related research that requires the FISH test. If you are interested in participating, please call her research associate, Michelle Perez, at (702) 671-2224 in Las Vegas, NV]
