Not every rodeo journey looks the same. For Miranda Reed, current Miss Rodeo Sandhills and 2025 Dancin’ with the Rodeo Stars co-champion, her path is one of passion, determination, and the power of dreams—and it’s sure to inspire anyone she meets!

A Dance with Destiny

Miranda's tale begins not in the dusty arenas of the rodeo world, but on the polished floors of dance studios. Since age four, she has pursued competitive dance, immersing herself in various dance styles and competing on national stages. It wasn't until a serendipitous invitation to a team roping that her path veered toward the rodeo scene.

“I never imagined I'd trade my dance shoes for cowboy boots, but sometimes life leads you to exactly where you need to be,” Miranda shares.

Captivated by the speed, precision, and athleticism of the sport, Miranda found her calling as a cowgirl, defying the expectations set by her city roots.

Rope Your Dreams

Central to Miranda's journey is a belief that became her rodeo queen platform, “Rope Your Dreams.” Despite skepticism from those who couldn't envision a dancer transforming into a rodeo queen, Miranda's unwavering determination proved them wrong.

“It's not about where you start,” Miranda reveals. “It's about where you're willing to go and the dreams you're ready to chase.”

Now, her story serves as a beacon of hope for young dreamers from diverse backgrounds, emphasizing that with hard work and perseverance, any dream is attainable.

Beyond the Competition

As a rodeo queen, Miranda's role extends far beyond the rodeo arena. She’s had numerous experiences that evidence how rodeo queens serve as essential bridges between the rodeo industry and the public, including one poignant interaction with a blind woman (tune in to Beyond the Rodeo to hear this story).

“Being a rodeo queen is about more than a crown,” Miranda explains. "It's about connecting people to the heart of rodeo and the lifestyle it represents."

Through her time learning the ropes of the rodeo industry, Miranda has also gleaned an appreciation for the strategic intricacies of the rodeo industry.

“Every ride in the arena is backed by hours of preparation and a deep understanding of the land,” she notes, also emphasizing the importance of having support from organizations like WSF.

From the rigorous planning required for cowboys to succeed to the financial challenges they face, Miranda knows the rodeo scene isn’t without challenges.

A Vision for the Future

As Miranda sets her sights on the future, she looks to find ways to inspire others to chase their rodeo dreams regardless of their backgrounds.

“If my journey can inspire just one person to take a leap of faith, then every step has been worth it,” Miranda concludes.
